In our group coaching call last week we had a pricing expert join us to answer questions from the photographers about real estate photography pricing, and it was great! In the video below I run through some of the questions we covered.
One thing our expert said that I thought was helpful was this:
“If customers are saying nothing about your real estate photography pricing then you’re too cheap.”
A lot of photographers are too scared to put up their pricing, even though there is probably a lot more elasticity in their pricing than they think. Our pricing expert also said that if clients are complaining about your prices consider one of the golden rules of pricing:
“All value is subjective, and it’s determined by the buyer.”
We also talked about whether to add your prices to your website, and if you do what’s the best way to layout your pricing structure. I know that some real estate photographers refuse to make their pricing public (because they don’t want their potential clients to judge them on price alone, or they don’t want their competition to know their pricing, or a bit of both), but for those that do there is a better way to do it, and we talked about that.
We also had a chat about the weird names that some photographers use for their photography packages, like gold, silver and bronze. Why do photographers use those names, and what do they mean? It doesn’t really tell the client what they get, or what benefits they’ll receive … only that the photographer couldn’t come up with a better name for their different service levels. 🙂
Note: I don’t mean any offence to any photographers that do call their packages ‘Gold’, ‘Silver’ and ‘Bronze’ … but if you would like to talk to me sometime about that I’d be happy to help. Really, I would. 🙂
So that was it for Group Coaching Call #36. If you’re a real estate photographer or a property photographer as you are known in the UK – God bless our gracious queen – or an architectural photographer and you’d like find out how you can become a member of my coaching program and watch a replay of this 60 minute coaching call then send me a message and I’ll send some information through to you.
